The Peacock Plant, botanically known as the Calathea Makoyana, is one of the most spectacular appearances in the world of indoor plants. With its unique leaf pattern that strongly resembles the feathers of a peacock, this plant immediately brings an exotic and artistic atmosphere into your home. The leaves are light green in color with dark green veins and spots, while the underside of the leaf has a deep purple tint. This creates a beautiful color contrast that looks great in any interior style.
This Peacock Plant is delivered with a height of 70 cm in a 19 cm pot. What makes this plant extra special is that it is truly alive; in the evening, the plant closes its leaves only to open them again in the morning. This phenomenon is caused by a small joint between the stem and the leaf. In addition to its visual beauty, the Calathea Makoyana is also well known for its air-purifying properties, which contributes to a healthier living climate in your living room or office space.
Regarding care, this houseplant is ideal for those who love greenery without too much hassle. The Peacock Plant requires very little maintenance, provided it is placed in the correct spot. It thrives best in a place with partial shade, away from direct afternoon sun which could burn its delicate leaves. Ensure the soil remains slightly moist at all times, but prevent the roots from standing in water. With these simple guidelines, your plant will remain a stunning eye-catcher for years.
